quotations about surfing
The reason I got into surfing was because it was non-judgmental. You can be an outcast and it's fine.

I make my living as a surfer, but I would never call it a job. I'm not even sure you can think of it purely as a sport. Surfing is a bigger concept. It's the essential element of my life, and if I had to compare it to anything, I'd say that surfing is like playing music. There can be endless variations on a song; infinite ways to make a melody. And likewise, everyone who rides a wave brings something unique to the process. No two people surf the same way, and no two waves are alike. It's a constant interpretation of whatever the ocean brings combined with whatever you bring.

Force of Nature: Mind, Body, Soul (And, of Course, Surfing)
Hanging out at the beach one day
And I heard someone say that if I Was cool I'd be surfing
That's when I decided I wasn't gonna be some punk kid
Gettin sand kicked in his face and losin all the chicks
I wish that I was cool I wish I was surfing
Making beach babes drool, I wish I was surfing
And every single day I would be surfing
I wish that I was cool I wish that I was surfing
I went out and bought my board how much practice can it take
I mean I've already seen "Point break" and if Keanu can do it then I can too

Surfing is a lifestyle to so many more people than it is a sport, so I do understand that the Olympics will change it. But I think it will just stay changed in the surfing sport of it.
